Monday Devotional: Finishing Well
/With 7 weeks left to go, Dean of Student Life August Huckabee led a devotional this morning challenging students to live intentionally and think critically about finishing the semester well.
Worldview at the Abbey is a Christian gap year program associated with Worldview Academy summer camps. Bill Jack, Jeff Baldwin, August Huckabee, and Hannah Hall founded the Abbey in 2014, and the curriculum centers around a Socratic teaching of classical texts in general education classes such as literature, political science, history, and economics, as well as teaching rhetoric, and apologetics from a Christian worldview. Along with classroom teaching, students engage in community service and leadership initiatives throughout the year to solidify the teaching in the classroom.

Worldview Academy Faculty member J. Mark Bertrand visited the Abbey last week, and on Tuesday night gave a lecture on the New Moralism. Catch the video below!

During the last week of September students were able to go on a rafting trip to experience teamwork, leadership, and attributes of God that can be see in nature (Romans 1:20). It was our first big trip as a group, and it was definitely a bonding experience!
A few weeks ago students requested that we have the opportunity to practice leadership skills within the group, so we scheduled the use of a low ropes course in Canon City to do just that. Scroll through the pictures below to see what we were able to do!
Students this past week spent three days camping and hiking at Great Sand Dunes National Park, and three days volunteering at Horn Creek Conference and Retreat Center in Westcliffe, Colorado. Through this, students had the opportunity to put feet to their faith in learning service, teamwork, and leadership skills. It was an awesome week!
