Worldview at the Abbey is a Christian gap year program associated with Worldview Academy summer camps. Bill Jack, Jeff Baldwin, August Huckabee, and Hannah Hall founded the Abbey in 2014, and the curriculum centers around a Socratic teaching of classical texts in general education classes such as literature, political science, history, and economics, as well as teaching rhetoric, and apologetics from a Christian worldview. Along with classroom teaching, students engage in community service and leadership initiatives throughout the year to solidify the teaching in the classroom.
The wild West was “wild” in the truest sense of the word. As untamed and unpredictable as a wild bronco, a man could get lost for good in its vast arid prairies and harsh mountain terrain. Many did. But the West was also a place where wanderers could find a home. He could hire on with one of the great ranches that had staked their claim out there and then he could ride for the brand.

Read MoreImagine you are on the streets and someone asks you, “Why do you believe in the Trinity?” This is a daunting question. A few weeks ago, several Abbey students went on a mission trip to Utah, and on that trip a Mormon student asked me that very question. My first reaction was to give her the Bible verses that support the doctrine of the Trinity, but then I realized that that was not the reason she was asking the question. Her point was that the Trinity is confusing and difficult to get one’s mind around -- Mormons often bring up the Trinity to try and poke a hole in Christianity. Instead of disagreeing, however, I agree with their point. The Trinity is true and the mystery surrounding it is evidence for its truth.
