How does the Crux redeem the Freshman year?

  • All classes are Classical education, Biblical Foundation, Socratic teaching (not throw-away courses other colleges force students to take).

  • Small class sizes of no more than one teacher to 13 students

  • Trips to whitewater rafting, camping, the state capitol, and fine arts museum guarantee hands-on application of Biblical worldview

  • One-on-one discipleship curriculum that leads students through exploring career paths

Student Testimonials:

Meet Your Professor: Bill Jack:

Typical Freshman Experience:

  • Students are lumped in classes with hundreds other students, so they are a number and the professor is unaccessible.

  • Students struggle with connection and loneliness because there is no structure to connect them.

  • Students question their faith because it is attacked from the classroom or campus culture, often even at Christian colleges.

  • Freshman quality of education suffers, because professors are forced to dumb down material to lowest common denominator.

At the Crux:

  • Class sizes are never more than one professor to thirteen students, and discussion-driven classrooms keep everyone engaged.

  • Multiple levels of community (discipleship groups, competitions, worship nights, small classes) mean every student is known.

  • Professors are held accountable to the Statement of Faith, and campus culture is overseen by on-campus Resident Assistants

  • All classes are based in Classical literature and Biblical foundations, which challenges students to think and articulate difficult concepts together.

Who is the Crux for?

  • Students who are serious about their faith. We are not a “fix your faith” program.

  • Students who can handle the reading load.

  • Students who want to be sharpened and pushed to go deeper.
